Silent Hill f developer Konami is taking a bold step with the upcoming horror by focusing more on combat and action in a bid to “resonate” with younger players new to the legendary series. The survival horror will launch for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on September 25, 2025.

Series producer Motoi Okamoto has confirmed in a recent interview with Game*Spark, via Automaton, that he wanted to focus on “entertaining and thrilling action” for Silent Hill f.
Konami wants the game to keep with the series’ signature psychological horror while leaning heavily into “challenging action” to win over younger players.
Why Silent Hill f Is Shifting Toward Action
In his latest interview, Okamoto explained that while he wanted to respect the source material with Silent Hill 2, the trend of more action-oriented horror games, Konami wanted a game that “would resonate well even with people who are new to the series,” so the team focused on implementing more challenges, action, and combat into the Silent Hill f.
Okamoto believes that by adding tougher combat that blends with the game’s “terrible beauty” of visuals, music, puzzles, and monster design, the game will attract younger players new to the series and longtime fans alike.
What This Means for Longtime Fans
Silent Hill f isn’t stepping away from its psychological roots, as Konami is keen to retain the terrifying moments and visually disturbing environments the series is known for.
Instead, Okamoto and Konami likely believe that focusing on more action and challenging combat is a natural evolution to keep the series relevant with the younger generation of gamers.
