In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sloclap announced they are delaying Sifu’s release. According to them, they were planning to release the game by the end of this year, however they realized releasing a polished game before 2022 is not possible.
Although the company did not reveal a definite release date, we can probably expect the game sometime in 2022.
Sloclap added that the “Covid crisis and subsequent lockdowns” created challenges for them, although they were lucky to not have faced financial losses. The team also took advantage of working remotely, but found it challenging to manage daily informal interactions between team members.
What they want to assure their audience, though, is that they are making “the best possible game, a hugely entertaining and polished experience.”
“…we’d rather ask our fans to wait a little longer than planned than release something we’re not totally proud of,” the developer added.
Fight Club Gameplay Teaser
Along with the announcement of the game’s delay, Sloclap also revealed a teaser showcasing Sifu’s gameplay. The teaser features its aging mechanic as well as a new environment which is an underground fight club. The teaser also showed some Kung Fu action.
Currently, Sifu is set to launch for PC, Playstation 4, and Playstation 5. We’ll keep you posted on the game’s release date as soon as it becomes available.
