Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma (RFGoA) is the new spin-off chapter of the Marvelous RPG Life Sim series. The first chapter debuted in 2006, with Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon on the Nintendo DS. Initially conceived as a fantasy spin-off with combat in the Story of Seasons series (previously known as Harvest Moon).
With Azuma in development since 2021 as Project Dragon and first revealed in 2023, the game offers an adventure in the Azuma region with a city building and farming aspect, as well as a more action-oriented gameplay style. Originally scheduled for a 30 May 2025 release, today marks the official launch of Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. The new spin-off chapter for the beloved Marvelous RPG and Life Sim series. Now available since 5 June 2025 on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and PC.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma: Main Gameplay Features
RFGoA offers a new experience in the Rune Factory world, taking us to the enchanting Azuma region, where we’ll play as either Subaru or Kaguya. Investigating the phenomenon of Celestial Collapse that’s consuming the region. Using our Earth Dancer powers to save Azuma and its inhabitants. Therefore, it offers:
- Oriental Fantasy Adventure: An adventure in the captivating Azuma region with a strong Japanese influence. Exploring a land rich in local traditions and seasonal festivals.
- Farming and City Building: Featuring a more intuitive farming system, with a strong city-building component. Rebuilding villages affected by plague and restoring the return of the local deities.
- Earth Dancer Abilities and Weapons: Using various Earth Dancer abilities that help with farming, exploration, and combat. Plus, a more combat-centric experience with new weapons and a party of three other characters.
- Characters and Relationships: With many unique characters, each with their role in the community. Discovering more about each of them and forming lasting relationships with the 12 Bachelors or Bachelorettes (+2 with the DLC Seasons of Love).
