At the end of the first night of major announcements at the Summer Game Fest 2025, we got the reveal of the new Resident Evil chapter. The official announcement of the ninth chapter as Resident Evil Requiem was made on June 6, 2025. The announcement was accompanied by a reveal trailer.
It introduces Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst who is investigating a case of victims struck by a mysterious disease. And with the appearance of a fifth new victim, she is assigned to investigate the Redwood Hotel. With the reveal of the title and a release date for February 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Resident Evil Requiem: What We Know About the Game
From the reveal trailer, we got quite a few details about the ninth chapter of Resident Evil. Requiem seems to feature Grace Ashcroft as the protagonist. She’s the daughter of none other than Alyssa Ashcroft, the reporter who appeared in Resident Evil Outbreak. Grace will return to Raccoon City, specifically investigating the Redwood Hotel, where her mother Ashley died 8 years ago.
The story takes place between 2024 and 2025, about 3 years after the events of Village. With a devastated Raccoon City, destroyed by a thermobaric bomb to wipe out the virus. Grace will have to face her past and the horrors awaiting her. The team promises that the game will terrify players with a mix of story and characters. Fans will be able to try an exclusive demo live at Gamescom 2025, from August 20 to 24.
