R-Type Dimensions III Physical Release Pushed Back, Digital Still on Track

R-Type fans have a lot to look forward to this month with R-Type Dimensions III lined up for release very soon. Fans have been counting down the days to the game’s May 19 launch but with just two weeks to go, those who preordered physical editions will need to extend that countdown. ININ Games has announced that while the digital version will release as planned, the physical editions have been delayed.

The standard and special physical editions are now set to arrive on August 11. As for the more expensive Collector’s Edition, it no longer has a firm date and is instead targeting a release window in winter 2026. According to the publisher, the delay comes down to “ongoing global manufacturing and logistics constraints.” At the state the world is in, fans more than understood this reason.

While this is of course not ideal, ININ Games isn’t letting anyone out to dry. The physical versions will ship with the latest build of the game included, removing the need for a day-one patch. On top of that, anyone who preordered a physical edition can request a free digital key starting May 15. Yep, that means early access.

R-Type Dimensions III is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up that follows humanity’s ongoing battle against the Bydo Empire, a dangerous bio-mechanical force capable of consuming and corrupting everything in its path. Players take control of the advanced R-90 Ragnarok fighter, pushing through hostile stages that shift between normal space and the distorted Bydo dimension in an effort to destroy the core of the invasion.
