PUBG: Battlegrounds (formerly PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) is now free to play, so players can now jump into all the battle royale action free of charge. This transition is included in the game’s 15.2 update which brings Tactical Gear and a lot more.

PUBG Battlegrounds Tactical Gear Now Available

PUBG: Battlegrounds players now have more options to improve their gameplay performance with the new Tactical Gear (Drone and EMT Gear). This will take up players’ primary weapon slots, and Krafton hopes this will allow them to come up with “more creative long-term strategies.”

Drone

The Drone will allow players to scout the map safely. This can also be used to pick up items without exposing themselves to direct combat. Players control it using the Drone Tablet.

This gear will spawn in every map, and is available in Normal Matches, Custom Games, Training Mode, and Sandbox Mode.

The Drone features:

  • Drone View (Toggle In or Toggle Out)
  • Recall in flight
  • 300m operation radius
  • 35 maximum HP

This gear can take damage from water, gunfire, explosions, collision from vehicles, and when it flies out of its operation radius. It also has a single inventory slot, which means it can loot a single item as well.

EMT Gear

The EMT Gear gives players the option to increase their healing potential at the cost of reduced flexibility in combat. This allows them to heal both themselves and their team.

As with the Drone, the EMT Gear will also spawn in every map, and is also available in Normal Matches, Custom Games, Training Mode, and Sandbox Mode.

When equipped, players will receive passive benefits whether they are holding it, or it’s stowed away. For example, it will only take players 3 seconds to use healing items (bandages, First Aid Kits, Med Kits, etc.) or revive a knocked down teammate. They can also walk a lot faster when using the healing items. Another advantage is that Bandages and First Aid Kits can heal them to Max HP, while Med Kits give full boost to players.

EMT Gear will also give players the ability to interact with teammates who got damaged.

On the other hand, the EMT Gear will not grant healing boosts while in the Blue Zone, and revival time will be shortened. Players can still heal their teammates.
