The Sands of Time may finally flow again. After years of silence and a total development reboot, Ubisoft’s most anticipated project is showing major signs of life. Recent backend activity and new official ratings suggest the Prince is finally ready for his comeback.

 

Technical Website Updates Hint at Imminent Reveal

The official website for the project received massive updates between December 31, 2025, and January 13, 2026. Investigators discovered that 39 out of 40 essential files, including screenshots, CSS, and fonts, are now live on the server.

This technical movement suggests the public-facing site is fully prepared to launch. Since Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto took over the project, they have refined the vision, even shifting the title internally to focus on a fresh start for the franchise.

 

ESRB Classification Points to Retro Bonuses and Final Polish

As we also mentioned, The ESRB recently assigned the game a “T for Teen” rating due to fantasy violence and blood. These classifications typically occur only when a game is content-complete and nearing its official release.

Interestingly, the rating mentions a 2D side-scrolling sequence. This likely points to a hidden retro level or the inclusion of the original 1989 classic as a bonus for long-time fans of the series.

Rumors now point to a potential “shadow drop” or a major announcement as early as January 16. While Ubisoft officially confirmed a release window before April 2026, the sudden surge in website activity suggests the wait might end much sooner.
