Islands & Trains (I&T) is the city building and sandbox game developed by Akos Makovics, with a team consisting of Hungarian Akos Makovics and German Fabian Schmidt. The duo has been active mainly with small mobile games and now debuts on PC with I&T, in collaboration with indie game publisher Future Friends Games.

A real passion project where we can build our own dream island by creating railway tracks and stations. A stress-free experience first revealed in August 2022 and initially scheduled for launch in 2023. After nearly 3 years of development, the duo of Akos Makovics is finally ready to launch their Islands & Trains. A city-building sandbox experience with a strong diorama style, where we can build our dream island with a city building experience free of time limits and rules. The official launch was announced by the team on 14 May 2025, accompanied by the Trailer. This trailer not only reveals the release date, but also the charming experience of Islands & Trains. With a robust building system, weather conditions, and a diorama style with pastel colors.

Islands & Trains: Gameplay and Key Features

I&T is a city building sandbox experience inspired by games like Islanders, Dorfromantik, and Townscaper with a diorama style approach offering:

• Colorful Sandbox Experience: Build your dream island with a sandbox approach free of time limits and rules. Accompanied by a colorful pastel palette.

• Watch your Diorama Come to Life: A strong terrain customization that allows you to create a true diorama between nature and structures, with trains and railways as main features.

The official launch adds over 400 types of tiles to give more variety to your creations. And adds animals like cows, sheep, and ducks to bring life to your diorama. A true passion project from the duo Akos and Fabian.
