Nioh 3 is the new chapter in the action RPG series by Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo. The third installment of the same-named saga, first introduced back in 2017, brought us into a mythological fantasy version of Japan in the 1600s. Facing the yokai forces that appeared during the conflict of the final years of the Sengoku period. Followed by the 2nd game as a prequel in 2020 with a custom character.
A series that received great success for its setting and world and yokai design. Counting over 8 million copies sold in total. And announcing the 3rd entry for the first time at the State of Play in June 2025 and scheduled for a 2026 launch. Nioh 3: New Exclusive Gameplay Showcase
About 3 months after the official announcement of Nioh 3, an exclusive gameplay showcase has arrived. Featuring the samurai, ninja, and yokai-themed Action RPG in Japan by Koei Tecmo, scheduled for launch in 2026. A showcase created in collaboration with IGN released on 3 September 2025.
With an 8-minute demonstration of the gameplay from the new anticipated third chapter of the series. Entirely dedicated to one of the most brutal Bosses shown so far against Takeda Shingen. The daimyo of Kai from the Takeda clan, reimagined as a mighty Yokai with 4 arms.
Nioh 3: What We Know About the New Chapter and What’s New
From what we know so far about the new chapter, we will play as a warrior destined to become Shogun. In a vast kingdom terrorized by Yokai, amidst secrets, cursed villages, and the presence of The Crucible. With one of the biggest new features being the ability to change playstyles on the fly. Choosing between Samurai and Ninja techniques depending on the situation.
A playstyle that fans on PS5 were able to try with the demo until 18 June 2025. An Alpha version of the game that was very positively received by fans for its settings and gameplay. Albeit with some criticism of the dual playstyle and some enemies with too much HP. Nioh 3 will also be playable at the Tokyo Game Show 2025 with a new exclusive Demo.

From what’s been shown, Nioh 3 seems to have all the right ingredients for a fantastic new Action RPG chapter from Team Ninja. Continuing what has been loved in the series so far but also bringing some new features to the gameplay, like the dual playstyle.
