“Taking the Long View”

In EA’s earnings call for the 4th quarter of its FY2022, CEO Andrew Wilson said that they are taking “the long view” with Battlefield games.

Will there be a Battlefield after 2042?

This comes after Barclays Analyst Mario Lu asked if there are any updates on the Battlefield franchise, and if EA’s mindset changed in the recent weeks as the latest Battlefield 2042 update failed to gain positive responses from players.

Wilson responded, saying their mindset did not change, and that they’re taking “the long view.”

“This is one of the great franchises in our industry, built by one of the great teams in our industry. And our expectation is that we’ll continue to grow and be a really important part of our portfolio for many, many years to come,” Wilson added.

When is the Next Battlefield Gaming Launching?

  Will Battlefield 2042 be updated?

EA has been working on the next Battlefield game for some time now, and rumors have circulated about it launching sometime in 2023.

This follows a statement from Wilson who said they’re looking at a 2023 release for the next Battlefield game as part of EA’s plan to release bi-annually.

With the way things currently look for Battlefield 2042, it makes sense to delay the next Battlefield game’s release and instead work on giving Battlefield 2042 players the game they paid for. Industry insider Tom Henderson presumes that the next game is more likely to be launched in 2024.

In the case of Battlefield 2042, it is set to launch its Year 1 Season Pass in June which will add new weapons, a specialist, vehicles, and maps.
