It’s hard to deny that the game looks gorgeous. And despite the questionable character design for the main protagonist, the characters look distinct and well-crafted. The video goes into detail as to how these characters were brought to life by the devs at Level-5. You can watch the full video below:
The game itself was designed so that players could easily empathize with the characters. The team had a lot more time to make sure that the characters were designed according to this requirement. Even creating the monsters players will encounter within the game was given a lot of effort.
The characters were designed using a cel-shading technique with clean, distinct lines. The devs recall how this look was very difficult to achieve from a technical perspective. It all worked out in the end though as even with the anime look, all the characters don’t look flat.
Ni No Kuni 2 Revenant Kingdom’s launch has been delayed a couple of times already, but it sure does seem like all the extra time the devs are spending on development will be well worth the wait. The game will hit PC and PS4 on 23 March.
