It’s been a full year since Monster Hunter Wilds dropped. Capcom is celebrating with a massive content injection on February 18, 2026.
This isn’t just a cake-and-confetti party. Update 1.041 brings a serious difficulty spike for veterans and a second chance for newcomers to grab missed gear.
Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto also confirmed the team is working on a massive expansion comparable to Iceborne. While we wait for summer news, here is how to navigate the current anniversary roadmap.
The New Apex Challenge
If you felt the base game became too comfortable, the new Arch-tempered Arkveld is here to humble you. This isn’t for casual play. It is locked behind a strict Hunter Rank (HR) 100 requirement.
The update introduces a permanent Event Quest for Arkveld starting February 18. A rotating “Free Challenge” version arrives shortly after on March 19.
The difficulty ceiling is rising across the board. The four apex predators (Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, Jin Dahaad) are receiving the 10-star Arch-tempered treatment.
- The Ultimate Test: Clearing all Arch-tempered quests unlocks a “Hunt-a-thon” marathon quest.
- The Requirement: You must finish the Arkveld event and all special environmental quests first.
- The Reward: High-tier materials for expansion prep and bragging rights.
Festival Rotations & Free Loot
Capcom is triggering a rapid-fire rotation of all previous festivals. This is perfect for players who missed seasonal events throughout the year.
It is the most efficient time to farm cosmetic tickets and seasonal armor sets without waiting months for a re-run.
The Festival Schedule:
- Blossomdance: Feb 18 – Feb 25
- Flamefete: Feb 25 – March 4
- Dreamspell & Lumenhymn: March 4 – March 19
Log in between February 18 and March 19 to claim a “thank you” pack.
More importantly, everyone gets a free Character and Palico Edit Voucher. If you regret your hunter’s chin structure from launch day, fix it now.

Community Gear & Crossovers
The “Original Weapon and Pendant Design” contest winners are finally entering the game. Craft these items via the permanent quest Every Hunter’s Dream.
The standout is the community-designed Great Sword. Don’t ignore the new “Emergency Meat” style pendant if you enjoy the sillier side of fashion.
Monster Hunter Stories 3 Collab
A new side mission chain introduces content from Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.
- The Gear: Unlocks the “Royal Palico Rudy” costume (alpha set).
- The Grind: Involves specific egg transport quests.
- The Tip: Look for “highly potent” eggs during these missions to maximize reward output.
The February update for Monster Hunter Wilds arrives on Wednesday 18! Take on imposing new challenges with Arch-tempered Arkveld, 10-star Arch-tempered Monsters, and unique Event Quests!

Should You Return?
If you dropped the game months ago, this is the ideal reentry point. The rapid rotation of festivals allows you to fill your collection quickly. For the hardcore crowd, the Arch-tempered Arkveld provides a necessary bridge between the base game and the upcoming expansion.
Check your Hunter Rank immediately. If you aren’t at HR 100, use the double XP from the upcoming festivals to grind up before the new 10-star content drops!
