Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Expansion Shows Off Citadel Map in Trailer

Capcom published a new trailer that gives us a tour of the Citadel Map in Monster Hunter Rise’s Sunbreak expansion.

Monster Hunter Rise is set to receive its Sunbreak expansion this June, and Capcom dropped a new trailer which gives us a tour of the new Citadel map.

The Citadel is a key location for new Master Rank quests, according to the trailer. It features the Castle Ruins, which is an iconic landmark in this region. It was once a thriving world bustling with life but has now been taken over by nature, including dangerous species that have left their mark “in ominous ways.”

The map also features unique flora and fauna, as well as various landscapes and biomes, including snow-covered locations, and swamp lands.

The Citadel also glows a purple aura at night, and you will find out why when you get the expansion.

Aside from the Citadel, Capcom also released another trailer which introduces us to its new monster, the Garangolm.

The Garangolm is a “hulking Fanged Beast with a rigid body,” according to the trailer. It has a deep roar which kind of signals that the battle to protect its home turf in the Citadel has started.

As seen in the gameplay above, the Garangolm starts by using its strength to attack. Then as the battle progresses, it becomes enraged then uses elemental skills. For instance, it may use both moss and magma to cover its arms to deal fire and water elemental damage at the same time.

It may also use elemental charging attacks and super-fast rocket jumps to come at you.

Garangolm is just one of the fearsome Three Lords you will encounter in Sunbreak when it launches on June 30, 2022 for PC and Nintendo Switch.
