Microsoft CEO of Gaming Phil Spencer is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

Phil Spencer is the CEO of Microsoft Gaming and has been at Microsoft since 1988, when he joined the company as an intern.
Since then, Spencer has held roles such as Executive Vice President of Gaming, Head of Xbox, and Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Studios.
Under his leadership, Microsoft has released the Xbox One S, Xbox One X, and Xbox Series X and Series S consoles.
Microsoft has also acquired Mojang, Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, and Zenimax Studios, adding games such as Minecraft, Fallout, and The Elder Scrolls to their list of assets.
On top of those, Microsoft has recently announced they are acquiring Activision Blizzard for $79 billion, which will see them take ownership of World of Warcraft, Overwatch, Call of Duty, and Diablo.
In the meantime, Xbox continues to expand its exclusive franchises such as Halo, Gears of War, and Forza.
Under Phil Spencer’s leadership, Microsoft and Xbox continue to go from strength to strength with the Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the Xbox Network.
Due to Spencer’s continued passion and leadership, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) has chosen to honor him at the 25th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.
Spencer will be given the AIAS Lifetime Achievement Award, handed to him by Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard.
The AIAS Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates individuals who have led successful and lengthy careers and showed leadership, creativity, and innovation within the gaming industry.
Previous winners include Howard Lincoln, former Chairman of Nintendo America; William “Bing” Gordon, former Chief Creative Officer at Electronic Arts; and Satoru Iwata, former President of Nintendo.
