Microsoft continues to work on its $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and in its response to the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), it claims Activision is less important to Sony and PlayStation than other publishers.
As scrutiny continues on Microsoft’s attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard for a record-breaking deal, the Xbox manufacturer has moved to say EA, Ubisoft, and Take-Two are more critical to Sony than Activision Blizzard.
In a statement, Microsoft says, “Sony has 286 games which are exclusive to PlayStation,” and that Sony prefers to launch its first-party titles as PlayStation exclusives, such as God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Sony has pushed back, claiming The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield were not planned as Xbox exclusives until Microsoft acquired Bethesda, and they say Microsoft will do the same with Call of Duty if the deal for Activision is completed.
The deadline for a decision on whether Microsoft can acquire Activision Blizzard has been pushed back to May 22.
