Michael Pachter May Be Right About Fairgames Cancellation After All

Are we ever going to see Fairgames? Sony says yes but a different picture is emerging from Haven Studio.

Fairgames was revealed in May 2023 and while it got some attention, it probably wasn’t to the level Sony was expecting. Then whatever interest it got back then, that quickly dissipated as no (good) updates were released since. Pretty much the only news that went out related to the game was connected to it possibly being cancelled. In fact there’s a recent one that suggests this even more. Michael Pachter may actually be right about this.

Game Director At Haven Studios No Longer With The Company

It didn’t look good then, it still doesn’t look good now. Fairgames, for most people, looks like it’s a disaster waiting to happen. The reveal trailer wasn’t great, Concord’s failure made everyone worry about Sony’s live service capability, and the dev team was crumbling internally.

Earlier this year, there were reports of external playtests which apparently didn’t go well. Then in May 2025, Jade Raymond who was the founder of Haven Studios left the company. After that, Michael Pachter “misspoke” about Fairgames’ cancellation which got a lot of traction.

And now, Daniel Drapeau who is the game director at Haven Studios has also left the company. Probably because the cancellation rumor was still hot, no announcement whatsoever was made in relation to this. The only reason this has gone public was because his LinkedIn page was updated. According to the Experience section of his page, he left Haven Studios August 2025 and joined WB Games Montreal Inc, also in August 2025. His official title now is Creative Director at WB Games Montreal Inc.

Industry analyst Michael Pachter took a lot of heat when he said that Fairgames was cancelled. Many were skeptical since he doesn’t really get a lot of “rumors/leaks” right but his “claim” wasn’t totally out of the blue, let’s be fair. And based on this recent development, it looks like he may actually knew what he was talking about but was in no capacity to go public with.

Haven Studios is in a lot of pressure now as the feeling of cancellation lingers. With Concord’s fiasco (and how it failed), it’s not totally remote that Fairgames may face the same fate.
