Microsoft Is Expanding Testing for Free Xbox Cloud Gaming
Xbox is pulling out all the stops for Game Pass as it expands its reach to more communities. Two months ago, Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition which is basically the most basic tier of the subscription. But unlike the other tiers, it is not a standalone product. At launch, it was available through Discord Nitro.
This week, Xbox has expanded that reach once again as Game Pass Starter Edition is now included with Meta Horizon+, the subscription service for Meta Quest headset owners that provides access to a rotating catalog of VR games alongside monthly perks.
With Meta Horizon+ already offering more than 100 VR games to subscribers, the addition of Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition brings another library of over 50 games into the mix. That includes titles like Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Overcooked! 2, Grounded, DayZ, SnowRunner, and Deep Rock Galactic. Subscribers also receive 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming every month.
Meta also shared another feature that should make cloud gaming easier for Quest users. If you don’t have an Xbox controller to pair, the Meta Quest Touch controllers will soon be able to emulate an Xbox gamepad. This feature is expected to roll out over the coming weeks.

To access Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition through Meta Horizon+, users will need to link their Meta account with a Microsoft account. Once connected, eligible subscribers can begin accessing the included Game Pass benefits.
