Mamorukun ReCurse! is the remaster of the arcade shooter by G.rev and Gulti. The original game was released in arcades in Japan in 2008, receiving an enhanced port on PS3 in 2011 with an English localization in 2013. It offers a colorful vertical shoot ’em up where we follow Mamoru.

Waking up with no memory in the Netherworld after an accident. He’s tasked with purifying the Netherworld and preventing the disaster of the Dark World gates opening. The game was announced in May 2025 with a confirmed launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox, Switch, and PC in 2025. Mamorukun ReCurse! – Global Launch Confirmed

With the announcement in May 2025 of Mamorukun ReCurse!, the team at CITY CONNECTION later confirmed the release date in Japan. Now the team is back with news on July 7th, where in collaboration with publisher Clear River Games, they also confirmed the launch of the global version. A launch that will take place on September 25, 2025.

The announcement was accompanied by a new official Trailer that shows us this enhanced version. Offering the definitive version of the colorful and fun vertical shooter and bullet hell. Using the power of curses to destroy enemy projectiles, deal more damage, or make enemies stronger to score more points!

Mamorukun ReCurse!: What’s New

ReCurse! presents itself as a further enhanced version of the HD port on PS3 and Xbox 360. The game was initially announced in April 2024, but with the news of the ReCurse! version in May 2025. It offers:

• Return of Mamoru & Co.: Mamoru and his friends are back with this version available on all major gaming platforms. Featuring various types and patterns of projectiles and curses for every playstyle.

• Widescreen and Controller Support: Extended support for widescreen displays, plus support for modern twin-stick controllers.

• Game Modes: With 3 game modes including Story, Arcade, and Netherworlds Adventures. All accompanied by a Gallery Mode and Online Ranking.

All this is accompanied by the classic soundtrack from the original composer Yousuke Yasui. Featuring not only the return of the famous YO-KAI Disco track, but also the original BGM and arranged versions. As well as a new main theme, and confirmation of a physical version for PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Mamorukun ReCurse! now supports widescreen format, modern twin-stick controls, Story Mode, Arcade Mode, Challenge Courses, previously released DLC characters, alternate costumes, Gallery Mode…and MORE!
