Magicians: The Devil’s Deal is a narrative-driven first-person action game coming in 2027 to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Developed by Uppercut Games, the title casts players as an 1890s stage magician navigating a hellish, distorted version of Victorian London after striking a bargain with the Devil.

The project represents the first collaboration between publisher Focus Entertainment and the Australian studio Uppercut Games. The narrative follows Jacob Menteuro, a talented illusionist and member of an elite society known as the Magic Ring. Betrayed by his closest colleagues, Jacob is cast into the depths of Theatreland, a decaying underground underworld where illusions become lethal realities.

To survive and exact his revenge, Jacob accepts an offer from the Devil, transforming traditional stage magic into deadly supernatural abilities. Players must explore corrupted theaters and shifting streets to hunt down the rival Master Magicians who orchestrated Jacob’s downfall, including his former mentor, Oliver Burke.

Stage Magic Reimagined as Deadly Combat Tricks

The core gameplay loops center around weaponized illusions, which the development team refers to as Tricks. Instead of standard firearms, Jacob utilizes his performance repertoire for offensive and tactical advantages. For instance, playing cards serve as high-velocity projectiles, while heavy stage chains function as tools to immobilize aggressive adversaries.

According to the official Focus Entertainment announcement, mechanical experimentation remains a vital element of the campaign. Every acquired ability expands how players approach combat encounters and environmental puzzles. Levitation, for example, allows players to dispatch enemies, manipulate floating platforms, forge new pathways, and create emergency cover during intense shootouts.

As players navigate the distinct zones controlled by each Master Magician, they must gather vital survival resources. These components allow Jacob to upgrade his capabilities and modify his strategies against increasingly complex enemies. The developer notes that the aesthetic inspiration stems from authentic 1890s theatrical posters, capturing a flamboyant yet sinister historical atmosphere.
