The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria – New Durin’s Folk Expansion Revealed
With the Free Range Games team’s participation at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 (SDCC), new updates about Return to Moria have arrived. The team dropped a surprise announcement for the new expansion coming to the Lord of the Rings-themed dwarf survival crafting game.
They exclusively revealed the new Durin’s Folk Expansion, accompanied by a short teaser. It will further expand the game’s story, with a continuing battle for the reconquest of Khazad-dûm, also known as Moria. Offering a new reason to jump back into Return to Moria.
What We Know About Durin’s Folk
The announcement of Durin’s Folk was presented during the “Middle-earth: The Adventure Ahead” panel held on 28 July 2025 at 2:15 pm PT (11:15 pm CEST) at the San Diego event. It was presented live by Game Director Jon-Paul Dumont, among other guests and panelists along with the team members.
This is a full-fledged expansion that will add numerous features. Specifically, it will expand the end-game content and the story, while also introducing new mechanics and many secrets. And from what we know, it is planned for release by Q4 2025. Meanwhile, the team confirms that new details and news will be coming soon on official channels.
