Kingdom Hearts 4 could be closer than we think after a voice actor revealed he’s been working on the RPG’s voice recordings over the last year. Square Enix has not confirmed a release date for the game, but it’s expected to launch in 2026.

Square Enix continues to work on Kingdom Hearts 4. While the developer has remained mostly quiet about the game since its announcement in 2022, Zach Pokres, a voice actor and content creator, has revealed he’s been working on the English dub for the past year, suggesting the game could be nearly ready for release.

Pokres revealed he’s now permitted to say anything else about the project but confirmed his work on other games, such as Indigo Park and MiSide, a cute psychological horror launched late last year to overwhelmingly positive reviews.

English Dubbing Suggests Major Progress

Pokres has confirmed his work on Kingdom Hearts 4 on X, where he revealed projects he’s worked on “in the last year.” In the post, he included a picture of the games for which he has provided voice work, specifically highlighting Kingdom Hearts 4. However, he mentioned that he is only allowed to disclose information about the game without revealing any additional details.

While Pokres does not provide specifics, the fact that English voice actors are already recording suggests that the game is significantly advanced in development. We may even see the game later this year at an event, such as The Game Awards in 2025.

Kingdom Hearts 4 was announced in April 2022 at the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event. However, since then, Square Enix has kept the game under wraps, only confirming it’s still in development when it announced the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link earlier this month.

Could We See a 2025 Release Date?

A Kingdom Hearts 4 2025 release date is unlikely, as Square Enix only released screenshots of the game on May 14, 2025, with the company attempting to smooth over the fact it had canceled Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link for iOS and Android.

While it may not launch in 2025, it seems Square Enix is ramping up for a major reveal at one of this year’s gaming events, with the first big opportunity coming at Summer Game Fest 2025. If we do get a trailer this year, fans will hope for a late 2026 release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
