HOW MUCH CAN I EARN AS A GAME DEVELOPER?
California state law means companies must now publicly post salaries in job listings, giving us a better understanding of how much we can expect to earn as a game developer.
Industry expert Jason Schreier has posted a few job listings from EA, Riot Games and Activision Blizzard.
According to their own listings, senior game developers at Blizzard can expect an annual salary between $134,000 – $247,900.
At EA, you can earn between $127,859 – $204,600; at Riot Games, a senior game developer can earn anywhere between $136,000 and $241,000 annually for the same role.
Unfortunately, we can’t get an exact estimate as each company seems unwilling to post exact salaries, and each annual wage seems dependent on what part of the state you reside in.
For instance, those in Los Angeles are paid more than someone living in Sacramento, and someone in Manhattan is paid more than someone living in Buffalo.
But at least you know what you can expect on average if you’re looking to become a game developer.
