In a recent blog post on Playstation.com, Guerilla Games Game Director, Mathijs de Jonge, explains that although the game had entered the final stage of development on track, they were uncertain if they could polish the game to a high standard ahead of launch.
That uncertainty has seen the developers decide to push back the launch of Horizon Forbidden West from the 2021 holiday to February 18, 2022.
The delay is a blow to fans, but hopefully, it means the game will live up to the high standard of Horizon Zero Dawn, which launched back in 2017 to critical acclaim.
The game’s postponement is also another huge blow for PS5 owners, who recently saw delays to Gran Turismo 7, the new God of War, Deathloop, and Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Hopefully, by the time February comes around, the ongoing global silicon shortage will have eased to the point that more people can get their hands on a PlayStation 5.
HORIZON ZERO DAWN 60FPS PATCH
It’s not all bad news for PlayStation 5 owners, though, as Sony has finally released a patch for Horizon Zero Dawn, which boosts it to 60fps. The game is locked to 30fps on the PS4.
The 1.53 update is available to download and install for free now and comes after other Sony titles, such as God of War, The Last of Us Part II, and Ghost of Tsushima got 60fps patches on the PS5.
