Hell Let Loose: Vietnam developer Expression Games has reassured fans that the upcoming FPS will remain true to its setting, revealing it will be “a hundred-percent historically authentic.” The shooter was announced in August 2025 and is due to launch in 2026 for PC and consoles.
Team17 and Expression Games have revealed their commitment to historical accuracy, from authentic weapons and uniforms to the realistic combat environments and “sound of the bugs.”
In an interview with PC Gamer, creative director Matt White stated that “all of it is a hundred-percent historically authentic.” White also said that the “maps are authentic” and the developers have chosen the “best locations” for gameplay purposes.

A New Direction for the Franchise
Following the massive success of Hell Let Loose, set in World War II, Expression Games and Team17 are making a significant shift for the franchise by moving it to Vietnam.
The Vietnam setting introduces a new environment that promises a more “boots-on-the-ground realism,” focusing on the intense, close-quarters combat of jungle warfare. Players can expect ambush-heavy battles, diverse weather conditions, and authentic weaponry and gear from the era.
The Promise of Historical Authenticity
In his interview with PC Gamer, White described the battles of the Vietnam War as more difficult to pinpoint than those from World War 2. So, instead of focusing on historical accuracy, they decided to ensure it’s “authentic to the Vietnam environment.”
Part of that is recording gun noises at the Royal Armouries and hiring an artist “whose area of expertise is foliage.” The large-scale multiplayer battles and squad-based gameplay from the previous game are there, and they are authentic and respectful to war and its participants.

Expression Games and Team17 have announced Hell Let Loose: Vietnam for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The FPS is set to launch sometime in 2016.
