Yesterday, the team behind Hell is Us confirmed that a free playable demo will be released three months before the game’s official launch. Designed to introduce players to the game’s dark and mysterious setting, the demo features the beginning of the game. This early portion eases players into the core gameplay systems, giving a solid taste of the exploration, combat, and narrative atmosphere of the game.

One of the standout features of the demo is its adjustable difficulty, with three difficulty levels available from the start. While the full game has been crafted as a challenging experience, Rogue Factor has made sure it remains accessible to a wider audience. In addition to difficulty options, players can also tweak the enemy aggressiveness mode, providing further control over how punishing the game feels.
The demo offers a solid slice of gameplay but it’s important to note that some content and features are being held back for the full release. It was also not announced if there is a time limit to the demo. That said, it’s still a great opportunity to get a first-hand look at the game’s design, tone, and mechanics.
The demo will be available on PC from June 2 through June 16. Unfortunately for console players, the demo is exclusive to PC. As for Steam Deck users, yes, it can technically run but on low settings so it’s not recommended if you want to get the full experience the developers intended.
