The next Battlefield game's release may not push through in 2023 as what EA originally planned.
Battlefield 2042 hits an all-time low as concurrent player accounts on Steam drop below 1,000 players.

In the last few months, battlefield 2042 and the Battlefield franchise have taken a few heavy hits as EA and DICE fail to appease player concerns.
Constant glitches, content roll-backs, and poor design choices have left Battlefield 2042 in a dire situation.
As a multiplayer-based experience, the player count is rather important to the game, and Battlefield 2042 dropping below 1,000 concurrent players on Steam is a problem.
In fact, Battlefield 2042 dropped below 1,000 players every day since 11 April, with the lowest player count sitting at 832 on 13 April.
In contrast, Battlefield 5 has seen as many as 18,000 concurrent players and no fewer than 2,000 in the same period.
I can’t say I’m entirely surprised, as features I would expect in an FPS, such as an endgame scoreboard and voice chat, were recently removed by DICE as they were considered “too toxic.”
And if that doesn’t tell you that DICE and EA are out of touch with their own franchise, players, and the shooting genre, then nothing will.
