With a launch date set for 2025, GTA VI is a game that has been on everyone’s lips for many years, and now with an official confirmation from Rockstar, many are patiently awaiting its release.
In a recent interview, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick speaks about the situation of GTA VI before and after the announcement.
GTA VI has definitely been one of the most discussed titles in recent years, from rumors to actual leaks that have revealed much about the game. Not to mention hacker attacks from overly enthusiastic fans. As the 25th Anniversary of the Grand Theft Auto series was getting close, it seems that Take-Two and Rockstar had planned to release the teaser for the new GTA on 5 December 2023, at 15:00 CET. Unfortunately, yet another leak affected the trailer, released on Twitter (X) about 24 hours before the scheduled time.
Strauss Zelnick speaks directly about this stating that the premature release of the trailer was rather disappointing but it ultimately did not affect the team in any way. In fact, he continues by saying that despite the leak, the unanimous response from the GTA VI community to the announcement far exceeded their expectations. Surpassing numerous records within a few hours, such as the most popular gaming tweet or how the trailer even surpassed the previous record for views within 24 hours, previously held by MrBeast.
Now with a more concrete release date set for 2025, GTA VI continues to be a topic of discussion thanks to the community. From video analyses of the teaser that analyze every single frame to speculate and gather information, to one of the main characters, Lucia, reconstructed from images to be added to various games thanks to community mods. And of course, the return to the beloved Vice City, with a new story in one of the most ambitious GTAs ever.
Furthermore, the Rockstar Team has marked this teaser as the first of many to come before the fateful date. With the intention of adding new information and continuing to satisfy fans and keep the interest in the game high.
Obviously, it’s not all sunshine and roses for the team at Rockstar. In fact, the incredible success that GTA V has continued to have over the past 10 years is something remarkable. Mainly thanks to the community and Roleplay servers, modes in which players take on the role of a character and interact with other players following their own role, like a great improvisation show. We already know that some particularly popular figures in Roleplay, such as modders and streamers, have been directly contacted by Rockstar, almost guaranteeing the presence of Roleplay in the game from the get go.
Rockstar, however, will have to handle the launch in the best possible way, especially in light of the recent disastrous launches of many AAA titles, both technically and in terms of plot. Another important criticism will be that of the much-discussed PC version, which Rockstar has always released at least 1 year after the console version during various titles. In short, we just have to see what awaits us in this 2024, hoping to see more official information from the team about the highly anticipated GTA VI.
