Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive are celebrating after posting their sales figures for GTA 5 in the first quarter of 2022, and they plan new creative standards for GTA 6.

TAKE-TWO INTERACTIVE ANNOUNCE GTA V SALES

GTA V is the most successful entertainment product of all time, and it continues to sell despite releasing in 2013.

In a recent earnings call, Take-Two announced it earned $1.1 billion in revenue and $1 billion in bookings for Q1 2022.

GTA 5 sold almost 5 million copies in Q1, and GTA Online’s player count has increased by 49% since the COVID-19 pandemic.

GTA V  has sold over 170 million units across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC and is the fastest entertainment release to reach $1 billion in sales.

GTA 6 WILL SET NEW CREATIVE BENCHMARKS

Rockstar is taking its time with GTA 6, more than likely due to the success that GTA V continues to see.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, the “Rockstar Games team is determined to once again set creative benchmarks for the series, our industry, and for all entertainment, just as the label has done with every one of their frontline releases.”

There is no release date for GTA 6 yet, but it’s clear that Rockstar and Take-Two know expectations are high and want to ensure the best game they can make.
