The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is the new action RPG developed and published by Owlcat Games. It’s an adventure based on the sci-fi novel universe created by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. This is a new video game adaptation of the series, following various adaptations into comics, a TV series, and even board games.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn – Details on the Game’s Length
Among the various participants at Gamescom 2025, Owlcat Games was also present at the Cologne event. They brought some juicy new details about the team’s projects in development. With new info from an interview with Wccftech about The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, the new sci-fi Action RPG based on the eponymous series of novels and TV show.
During the event, they interviewed Game Design Director Leonid Rastorguev and Game Design Producer Yuliya Chernenko. They talked about the type of adventure that awaits us and, most importantly, the game’s length. Rastorguev confirms it will be around 20-30 hours, similar to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Chernenko also commented that the story is shorter than the team’s past titles, but very intense.
Osiris Reborn: What We Know About the New The Expanse Game
The interview also dropped some other cool details. It’s confirmed that Osiris Reborn is set in parallel to the adventures of James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante. It will feature third-person shooter-style gameplay with various companion abilities. They also confirmed companion side-stories, including some Romances and our character’s customization.
The team is happy with the status of the Pre-Alpha, but they confirmed they won’t be aiming for a 2026 launch window. Instead, the team wants to take all the time they need to polish the experience, offering a non-linear gameplay experience across various explorable planets. It sounds a lot like Mass Effect, which is a huge inspiration for the game.
