FH6 is the most ambitious game in the series to date, and fans will be able to pick it up on Xbox Series X|S and PC sometime in 2026, with a PS5 release expected at a later date.

Speaking to Games Radar, art director Don Arceta described Japan as “full of contrast” and that Playground Games wants to offer fans a completely “new driving experiences that capture the location,” with something to discover around every corner on the “most ambitious map” seen in a Forza game.

Blending Japan’s culture with its festivals and unique mix of urban and rural environments, Arceta believes FH6 is “the most approachable and welcoming game” in the franchise yet.

The Biggest City Ever in the Forza Horizon Series

Not content with only providing the “most full” map the series has seen, Forza Horizon 6 will feature the largest city seen in the franchise with Tokyo, which Arceta explained is “layered and complex.”

Building on the lessons of previous games, Playground Games is bringing the dense city of Tokyo to life, including its complex web of roads that wind and weave through the city, which the developer hopes will provide an authentic and fresh experience for fans.

Release Date

Forza Horizon 6 was announced at the Tokyo Games Show 2025, and Microsoft says it will launch in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. A PS5 release is expected either late 2026 or early 2027.

With very few details to go off, fans of the series can look forward to a large and expansive open world that will bring Japan to life through its beautiful landscapes, dense cities, and culture.
