Fortnite’s new Simpsons season has ignited a wave of cheating accusations, but the truth behind the frustration is far more complex.
The arrival of The Simpsons season has transformed Fortnite usual balance, sparking a surge of complaints about cheaters. Across social media, many players are convinced that hackers are behind their sudden eliminations and strange encounters. But as Epic Games explains, the reality isn’t as clear-cut as the community believes.

Why Fortnite Players Think Cheaters Are Everywhere
For weeks, TikTok, Reddit and other platforms have been flooded with clips of players being tracked across the map or eliminated in ways that feel impossible. These videos often rack up thousands of views, reinforcing a collective suspicion that cheaters are sabotaging the season.
But most of these frustrations come from the current seasonal conditions. Springfield’s island is smaller, making it almost impossible to avoid early fights. With only 80 players per lobby, engagements happen faster and more frequently. Ultimately, many of the “impossible” encounters are a byproduct of fast pacing, player density and a high-skill returnee population.

Epic Games Says Cheating Has Actually Decreased
Despite player claims, Epic insists the data contradicts the outcry. The developer states there has been no rise in cheating during The Simpsons event, and in fact, internal statistics show a drop compared to previous seasons.
Epic highlights ongoing action against cheaters, improved detection systems and a renewed focus on reviewing in-game reports. The company is actively monitoring social media footage as well. Most troubling clips, Epic says, are often outdated or already tied to banned players. According to Epic, players aren’t being targeted by undetectable hacks — instead, perceptions are being shaped by outlier cases amplified online.
Misconceptions Fueling the Cheating Panic
Part of the confusion stems from a recent online rumor claiming Epic unbanned cheaters during the event. While reinstatements did occur, they date back to April 2025 under a new disciplinary policy. First-time cheaters now receive a one-year ban, while subsequent offenses lead to lifetime removal.
These reinstated players have rarely become repeat offenders. The most famous case is FaZe Jarvis, who spent six years banned after demonstrating aimbot technology. His return shows how severe punishments have historically been — and how carefully Epic monitors reinstated users.
Bugs, Balance Issues and a Sweaty Season
Not all suspicious gameplay is cheating. This season has suffered from occasional glitches, such as a temporary exploit that made revived players immortal. Meanwhile, new weapons like Moe’s Five Gun and Krusty’s Blaster have temporarily disrupted balance, leading to deaths that feel unfair.
Add to that a massive influx of new and returning players — 2.6 million concurrents at peak — and lobbies have never felt more intense. Crossplay means console users often face experienced PC players with higher precision and faster reaction times, adding to the frustration.

In Conclusion: The Real Reason You’re Dying in Springfield
While cheating undeniably exists in Fortnite, Epic’s data — and the season’s chaotic dynamics — make it clear that hackers aren’t the only cause of early eliminations. Shorter distances, denser lobbies, unbalanced early patches and high competition levels all contribute to the intensity.
