Fortnite Chapter 7 has a new trick to farm gold bars!

Gold was added to Fortnite a few chapters back, but Chapter 7 has completely overhauled how it works. With bars no longer carrying over between matches, players need to master the art of farming and spending this resource quickly to secure a Victory Royale.

The New Gold System Explained

For a long time, gold was an accumulative resource. You could save it up across dozens of matches to splurge when it mattered most. That is no longer the case.

In Chapter 7, you lose all your gold at the end of every match. This fundamental change incentivizes an aggressive playstyle. You must farm it immediately and spend it fast, or it simply goes to waste.

There are three main ways to spend your hard-earned bars:

  • Hiring NPCs for services.
  • Buying weapons from vending machines.
  • Purchasing lost reboot cards at the Reboot Van.

All of these can be the difference between winning and losing. Since you can’t take it with you, hoarding is no longer a viable strategy.

Job Boards: The Fastest Way to Farm

If you need gold fast, Job Boards are your best friend. These are scattered across the Battle Royale map and offer high-yielding tasks.

Interacting with a board will usually ask you to find two treasure chests or a single supply drop. The game marks the location on your map, making it a straightforward objective.

The payout is massive compared to other methods. You will receive 1,000 gold from supply drops and 750 gold from each treasure chest.

Safes and Cash Registers: Where to Look

If you are looting a named location, keep an eye out for everyday objects that hold currency. Safes and cash registers are excellent sources of quick cash.

Opening a cash register nets you 250 gold. Finding a safe is rarer, but it rewards you with a hefty 500 gold bars.

To maximize your chances, head to areas dense with shops and restaurants. Locations like Battlewood Boulevard and Sandy Strips are hot spots for these containers.

Combat and Regular Looting

You don’t always need a specific objective to get rich. Simply eliminating opponents is a steady source of income.

When a player is eliminated, they drop their loot along with some of their gold. You can usually pick up between 100 and 175 gold from a fallen enemy.

Standard chests also contribute to your wallet. A standard chest gives 75 gold, while a Rare Chest provides 100. It isn’t as fast as a Job Board, but it adds up over time.

Gold Value Cheat Sheet

To help you prioritize your looting, here is exactly how much gold you can expect from each source in Chapter 7:

  • Supply Drop: 1,000 Gold
  • Treasure Chest (Job Board): 750 Gold
  • Safe: 500 Gold
  • Cash Register: 250 Gold
  • NPC Lottery: 250 Gold
  • Eliminated Players: ~100-175 Gold
  • Rare Chest: 100 Gold
  • Standard Chest: 75 Gold

Sharing Gold with Teammates

Another major quality-of-life update in this chapter is the ability to drop gold. Your bars are no longer permanently bound to your inventory.

You can now drop gold on the floor for a teammate to pick up. This is incredibly useful for squad plays.

If your team wants to hire a powerful NPC, everyone can pitch in. Pooling your resources allows you to access high-tier services much faster than farming alone.

In Conclusion: Spend It or Lose It

The new economy in Fortnite Chapter 7 forces players to be active and strategic with their funds. Whether you are hitting Job Boards or raiding safes, make sure you spend those bars before the storm closes in.
