Fans Genuinely Confused Why The First Descendant Is Using AI Streamers On TikTok
The First Descendant is under scrutiny after AI-generated streamers were allegedly used to promote the game on Tiktok.
We get it, AI is here to stay but it doesn’t have to take over everything. This sentiment is shared by thousands of people across different industries, most recently evident during the mass layoffs at Microsoft. But the lure, especially financial, is just too great to pass on that now, even The First Descendant, a fairly successful game with a solid following, has resorted to using fake AI-generated streamers to promote the game.
The First Descendants Use AI-generated Streamers on TikTok
The gaming industry is not short of streamers. So when Nexon’s The First Descendants posted AI-generated streamers on its official TikTok account, fans, gamers, heck the whole community were confused at the very least. It is indeed very odd that a game which isn’t tanking at all, some even say a really good game, opt to use AI than actually pay streamers (even unknown ones) to promote the game. The whole point of paying them was for their audience so having an AI-one doesn’t really make sense.
The first video was an AI-generated Sweatcicle-lookalike which upon checking The First Descendants Tiktok account was no longer there. For a moment, fans were relieved that Nexon backtracked and took out the content. But then a second one was posted and as it turns out the first one was an Ad rather than a posted vid. So it is still there, just not in the feed.

Many were confused as to what drove Nexon to do this. Some even questioned if they were really AI-generated, but that was coming from disbelief more than anything.
A creator pointed out that these fake streamers looked like they were based on real streamers and just AI’d over them. If the first one looked like Sweatcicle, the second one looked like DanieltheDemon.

As to why this is the case, no one knows. It also remains unclear if Nexon will take these out or stand by their decision and move forward with similar content. One thing is for sure, they got people’s attention.
