Convoy – Experimental Beta Available Now

Although still in the experimental phase, SCS Software is proud to announce Convoy, a new feature that allows up to eight players to play together in their own private sessions. This is a welcome addition to both games considering how multiplayer was only possible through an unofficial mod.

The beta is currently only available for American Truck Simulator players, but we’re pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before it also becomes available for Euro Truck Simulator 2 drivers.

There’s no word when the Experimental Beta will last.

How to Activate the Experimental Beta

To take part in the Experimental Beta, follow these steps:

  • Right-click “American Truck Simulator” in your Steam Games Library.
  • Go to “Properties”
  • Then go to the “Betas” tab
  • Paste this special password/unlock code in the small window: XZo2orrgbG92XMQ
  • Then click on “Check Code”

Make sure you copy the code without any additional spaces at the beginning and at the end.  Also, SCS recommends you backup your profiles, or use a new one, because the save-game profile version for the beta will make it incompatible with the game’s full version.

Current Features and Limitations

Currently, here are the features available in Update 1.41:

  • Hosting and creating private sessions for up to 8 people
  • Signing the same contracts or jobs together from the same company and destination
  • Synchronized AI traffic, time and weather
  • Synchronized paint jobs, truck accessories, cabin accessories, and more
  • Communicating with other drivers via CB radio broadcast, quick replies, or text chat

SCS Software warns that Convoy is still in its early stages of development, but they’re confident to release it publicly so they can gather feedback.

It is also worth noting that there are some limitations, including lack of support for mods, and that players must have the same sets of maps and cargo DLCs as the host. The good news is that you can revert to a previous save when you exit Convoy.
