Escape from Tarkov Director Apologizes for Poor 1.0 Launch, Says Fixes Coming

Escape from Tarkov game director Nikita Buyanov has issued an apology to players following the “rough” launch of the extraction shooter’s 1.0 launch and release on Steam, admitting that the development team needs to keep fighting to improve the FPS.

Escape from Tarkov Director Apologizes for Poor 1.0 Launch, Says Fixes Coming

Despite hype being at an all-time high for the 1.0 launch and Steam debut of Escape from Tarkov, players have been complaining of performance issues and bugs that have persisted since the shooter’s alpha.

Thanking fans on X for their support, director Nikita Buyanov promised that developer Battlestate Games will finally “crack” the performance issues and legacy bugs in the coming months.

Buyanov’s Apology and Key Issues

Confirming Battlestate Games is aware of the ongoing issues, Buyanov says the developer is responding to the “overwhelming interest” in Escape from Tarkov by “adding more and more servers worldwide to cut matching times more.”

Despite coming nine years after the game’s initial closed Alpha, the 1.0 launch has been met with a “Mixed” rating on Steam due to many players being unable to log in or facing 20-40 minute waits to enter a raid.

Buyanov specifically acknowledged the “performance problems, outdated stuff, and legacy bugs” that remain in the game’s launch build.

Immediate Fixes and Compensation

A minor update was released over the weekend to address issues that prevented players from downloading Escape from Tarkov and EfT: Arena, as well as various 228 errors and lighting bugs related to trader interactions.

To compensate players for the troubled launch, Battlestate Games has promised to give all players the Bear Classic and USEC Night Patrol sets. Those who have already purchased one or both items will receive in-game credit as a reward.

Meanwhile, the immediate concern for Battlestate Games is correcting the game’s ongoing server stabilization efforts and performance issues.

Battlestate Games’ Long Road to Optimization

Buyanov’s promise to “continue fighting” suggests players can expect fixes to roll out over several months, as many issues have persisted for much of the game’s Alpha and Beta periods, meaning quick fixes are out of the question.

While many players accept the apology, others are wondering how a game that spent nearly a decade in testing could launch its 1.0 in such a poor state.

For longevity, the upcoming patches must be of high quality and prove that Battlestate Games is working to address ongoing player concerns.

Conclusion: Buyanov’s Promise and Player Hopes

Escape from Tarkov director Nikita Buyanov has apologized to players for the extraction shooter’s “rough” 1.0 launch over the weekend, while promising to fix everything, including server stability, performance, and legacy bugs.
