Valve has announced three new members of the Steam Hardware family as it looks to expand the Steam platform and Steam OS: the Steam Machine, Steam Controller, and the Steam Frame VR Headset are all due to launch in early 2026.

This ambitious triple-launch is a signal of Valve’s commitment to delivering its long-term vision of an open PC ecosystem for everyone built around the SteamOS.
The Steam Hardware is designed to work with Steam Deck and SteamOS, offering players new ways to interact with the extensive Steam libraries.
Steam Machine: The New Living Room PC
The Steam Machine features over six times the horsepower of the Steam Deck, and is essentially a compact, pre-built PC capable of playing all your AAA titles at 4K and 60 FPS. Oh, and you can use it as a standard PC. Install your own apps, or even another OS.
Optimized for SteamOS, the machine is a tiny 6-inch cube that includes a “whisper-quiet” cooling system, a semi-custom AMD desktop CPU and GPU, two storage sizes up to 2TB, 2×2 Wi-Fo 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 for easy connectivity.
The Steam Controller: Rethinking Input and Haptics
Key to the entire ecosystem, the Steam Controller is a wireless controller that will seamlessly work with any PC or device running Steam. It comes paired with Steam Input with pre-built configurations for thousands of games, or you can customize to your liking.
The Steam Controller is built for extended play and features next-generation magnetic thumbsticks for improved feel, comfort, and responsiveness. It also provides high-definition rumble for immersive and precise haptic feedback, along with grip-enabled gyro aiming for improved control.
Steam Frame Headset: Valve’s Wireless VR Leap
Taking another swing at virtual reality, the Steam Frame is a lightweight, compact wireless VR headset capable of handling SteamVR, non-VR, and stand-alone games.
With no setup needed, the Steam Frame VR headset features a plug-and-play 6GHz wireless adapter for dedicated VR and non-VR streaming and introduces Foveated Streaming. This new feature “optimizes detail where your eyes are looking” for improved image quality.
The Steam Frame controllers include finger tracking for enhanced immersion, along with the typical thumbsticks, D-pad, ABXY buttons, triggers, and bumpers for non-VR games, so you can seamlessly move from VR to non-VR.
Valve’s Triple Threat: The Steam Hardware Ecosystem Expands
Valve is extending its Steam Hardware with the Steam Machine, Steam Frame, and Steam Controller. These will join the Steam Deck in early 2026 and is Valve’s attempt to create a single ecosystem built around the SteamOS. What do you think of Valve’s new hardware? Let us know in the comments.
