In its Q1 2026 financial earnings report, South Korean developer SHIFT UP confirmed that official details for the next Stellar Blade entry and the upcoming flagship Project Spirits will be shared later this year.
The studio is pivoting toward a self-publishing model to facilitate simultaneous multiplatform launches and maximize the global reach of its growing intellectual property portfolio.
- SHIFT UP will officially reveal the Stellar Blade sequel and its new flagship Project Spirits in late 2026.
- The studio is moving to a self-publishing model to bypass console exclusivity and ensure multiplatform day-one releases.
- SHIFT UP is actively exploring an Xbox expansion for the original Stellar Blade to grow the IP before the sequel arrives.
When will the Stellar Blade sequel be revealed?
SHIFT UP confirmed that official details and a likely reveal for the Stellar Blade sequel will arrive in 2026. While development is progressing smoothly, the studio is prioritizing a global, multiplatform launch strategy.
Fans should expect a first look at the title’s direction, likely during a major mid-to-late year industry showcase. The developer noted that the project is meeting internal quality standards and will benefit from a “sales maximization strategy.”
Unlike the first game, which saw a staggered release between PlayStation 5 and PC, the sequel aims to reach a broad global audience across all supported hardware on day one.
This shift follows the massive success of the original Stellar Blade on Steam, which launched to overwhelming support on PC in June 2025.

SHIFT UP’s transition to self-publishing
SHIFT UP will self-publish the Stellar Blade sequel, moving away from its previous publishing partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment. This transition to a “first-party service” model allows the developer to control marketing and ensure a simultaneous release across all supported platforms.
The primary goal is to maximize global sales from day one without the constraints of third-party exclusivity.
The decision to move away from Sony as a publisher reflects the studio’s desire to maintain the “distinctive identity” of its IP. By internalizing global talent with experience in launching major titles, SHIFT UP is building a robust publishing arm.
This strategy is also intended to secure higher revenue margins and direct communication with its fanbase.
Project Spirits and the UNBOUND partnership
Project Spirits, described as SHIFT UP’s next flagship title, is currently in active development with a reveal scheduled for late 2026.
The project is being developed alongside multiple pipelines established through the acquisition of UNBOUND, the studio led by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. This partnership has added approximately 60 veteran developers to SHIFT UP’s roster.
The UNBOUND team is currently working on both high-end and mid-scale titles. SHIFT UP indicated that these projects will also follow the first-party service model.
Collaboration between the two entities is already underway in areas of worldbuilding and creative planning. This suggests a fusion of SHIFT UP’s technical prowess with UNBOUND’s established pedigree in action-adventure design.

Will Stellar Blade come to Xbox?
SHIFT UP is “actively exploring further platform expansion” for the original Stellar Blade to sustain its “evergreen” status. While the game is currently available on PlayStation 5 and PC, the studio’s new commitment to reaching a “broad global audience” hints at future console ports.
An Xbox Series X/S version is likely being considered to maximize the lifecycle of the first game.
Financial data suggests that seasonal promotions and the 2025 PC port have maintained steady sales momentum. By expanding to additional platforms, SHIFT UP aims to solidify the brand’s presence before the sequel’s launch.

Goddess of Victory: NIKKE continues steady growth
The live-service title Goddess of Victory: NIKKE remains a core revenue driver, following a successful 3.5th anniversary update in the first half of 2026.
The event, featuring the debut of Anis’s idol storyline and the “Lights of Hope” global tour, pushed the game to the top of the grossing charts in Korea and Japan while surging in the United States.
SHIFT UP plans to sustain this momentum with a large-scale 4th anniversary update in the second half of 2026. The studio is also expanding the NIKKE IP through merchandise diversification and offline events, aiming to transition the title into a long-term brand that extends beyond mobile and PC gameplay.
