Today, September 16, Update 1.5 for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam has been released. This marks the first major content update since the launch. The game is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series. The new update introduces the “Huey” helicopter, the M14, in-chopper music, and more. The absolute highlight of this update is undoubtedly the Huey.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Update 1.5
Key Takeaways
  • Update 1.5 introduces the Bell UH-1 Iroquois “Huey” into the game, complete with a radio and period-accurate music.
  • Two new weapons, the M14 and Type 56 SKS, have been added for the US Forces and the NVA.
  • More than 100 fixes and improvements overhaul helicopters, weapons, the Tactical Map, and general gameplay.

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Welcomes the Legendary Huey

As of today, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam players can take control of the Bell UH-1 Iroquois, better known as the Huey, thanks to Update 1.5. This helicopter was created in collaboration with Bell to ensure maximum authenticity, replacing the previous fictional model. Furthermore, a cockpit radio has been added, playing period-appropriate music that can be heard inside the helicopter. This music is also audible to nearby players, meaning forces on the ground can hear it if you fly low enough.

Additionally, the helicopter has received several gameplay enhancements. There is now a new HUD display for the pilot and copilot. The M60 ammunition capacity has been increased from 400 to 500 rounds, and the machine guns can now damage structures like tunnels. A warning signal for when the helicopter sustains damage has also been implemented. Moreover, helicopters now crash realistically, and passengers will only die upon ground impact rather than mid-air as before.

However, helicopters are not the only things receiving adjustments; new weapons have arrived as well. The US Forces receive the M14, while the NVA gets the Type 56 SKS. According to the developers, both weapons were highly requested by the community and have been added as a result. Several other weapons have also been rebalanced. The M16 now starts with 6 magazines instead of 4, with a maximum capacity of 10 magazines.

Over 100 Fixes – With More Updates Already Planned

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Update 1.5 also includes more than 100 fixes, adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements. The Tactical Map now features icons for wounded players, and Command Orders are displayed much more clearly. The scoreboard can now also be viewed during the Killed in Action screen.

Furthermore, it is no longer possible to place a garrison within 15 meters of enemies. Tunnels, outposts, and garrisons can no longer be hidden underwater. Additional changes have been made to controller inputs, keybindings, audio, maps, and overall performance.

Update 1.5 is just the first major content step; the 2026 roadmap outlines additional weapons, vehicles, maps, uniforms, and features. Optimization, stability improvements, and bug fixes will continue to run concurrently. Team17 and Expression Games also plan to release smaller patches and hotfixes on a regular basis.
