Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 are now available on PS4 and PS5. However, fans have been left feeling short-changed after they don’t feature improved graphics, a POV slider, or a higher frame rate.

- Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 are now available as direct legacy ports on PS4 and PS5.
- These releases lack modern enhancements such as 120 FPS performance, updated graphics, and FOV sliders.
- Iconic legacy features like Wager Matches and Theater Mode are completely missing from these versions.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 are now available on PS4 and PS5, bringing with them a whole ton of nostalgia that fans have been clamoring for.
Unfortunately, despite Activision confirming at the announcement that they were direct ports and not remasters, players are still feeling uncertain about the releases after it was revealed that there has been no effort placed in modernizing the FPS games.
Recent confirmation from CharlieIntel on X and others is that these titles remain locked at their original performance targets, typically 60 FPS, and lack modern settings like FOV sliders, contrary to rumors of stealth updates.

What is the current technical state of Black Ops on modern consoles?
As confirmed by CharlieIntel, Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 are available now on modern consoles, but players need to lower expectations as they are direct ports and not “remasters” or “remakes.”
The classic FPS titles don’t include any graphical updates and do not support 120 FPS. Furthermore, there are no FOV sliders or any additional modern options or features you would expect in new releases.
On top of what’s already mentioned, there seem to be fewer features than what were in the original games, as the ports don’t feature Wager Matches or Theater Mode. Meaning fans should consider if they’re worth buying before jumping in.

Are these classics worth revisiting in 2026?
Returning to the classic Black Ops titles in 2026 offers immense historical and gameplay value for purists, but requires adjusting to dated visual standards.
While the legendary multiplayer maps and core progression systems remain intact, players must navigate these legacy lobbies without contemporary quality-of-life additions.
Despite these limitations, the mechanical foundation of both games remains incredibly solid. The weapon handling, map design, and pacing still rival many contemporary releases in the genre.
The sheer quality of the original campaign narratives also provides an excellent reason to install the software today.
Is it time to return to the classics?
Replaying these foundational shooters is highly recommended for those seeking authentic nostalgia or a pure appreciation of franchise history.
Those choosing to revisit these entries will find a purist perspective on what made the franchise a global phenomenon. It remains a fascinating historical artifact that still functions perfectly as an evening entertainment option.
