Explore the alien underwater world. Your ship crashes and all you see around you is water. You must survive! Luckily there are a lot of resources available on the ocean floor. 

• Create an underwater base that you will be able to live in. You will also be able to craft a personal underwater vehicle, lights, diving gear, knives and everything that you might need underwater.
• Explore shallow coral reefs, lava fields, deep sea trenches, underwater rivers that are bioluminescent, cave systems, plateaus, reefs, and forests that are made of kelp.
• Find out what happened to this alien planet. Something’s not right with your surroundings, you just feel it! The sea life also looks infected and there are so many strange structures on the ocean floor. You must find out if you can get out of this strange world alive.

When Unknown Worlds announced they were bringing this one to Switch we were hugely excited, this is one of our all-time favourite games after all, but it was excitement tempered with a degree of scepticism as to how on earth they’d manage to cram the entire experience onto Switch in a properly playable manner.

Subnautica is a survival and narrative experience that stands as a benchmark for the genre. The Switch version itself certainly has its drawbacks, but not enough to weigh down the experience too much. Some of them do admittedly affect gameplay mildly, but the strength of Subnautica still pushes through.
