As Marius Titus, revenge drives you to justice after witnessing the murder of your family by the bandits. As you ascend the ranks of the Roman army, your path leads you to Britannia, yet the real price of revenge lies nearer to your own land.
Ryse for the most part rose to the occasion. The gameplay does get stale fairly early on, but the story is intriguing and pulled me right along. Ultimately my experience had been cut short after the campaign since multiplayer was not working but it was a short yet great ride. I do not think that Ryse was an instant classic and must be in your collection, but I do highly recommend it by borrowing from a friend or grabbing on sale.
All in all, Ryse is a solid game that holds itself back with its own simplicity. A rather simplistic story would be fine by itself, but the disappointing combat and repetition of QTE’s make the game a little tiresome.
Ryse is a decent game, given its length, but it’s one that is certainly more fun to look at than it is to play.
