With its survival mechanics and mostly PvE approach, Lost Rift might be the right game for those who are looking for a cooperative adventure. Just like in similar titles, we can build, scavenge, hunt etc. All in all, this open world game looks faithful to the genre, although I'm not sure (for now) if it will have a unique feature/spirit to make it different from all what we've seen so far.
It's been a good while since I played a game made by People Can Fly, the last one was Bulletstorm and I figure the studio has changed quite a bit from then. Besides the PvPvE extraction loop that I'm not a fan of, Lost Rift also provides a closed off, PvE only, experience where you can build a base and gather materials in different biomes. I'm assuming that the best loot and resources are only accessible by going into expeditions against other players.
On an island that's not quite paradise, you'll have to survive alone or with up to four other players. This FPS combines survival, looting and base building in an inhospitable natural environment. The formula is classic, offering PvE or PvPvE modes. Classic? We'll see. In any case, the dynamic environment is interesting, and the hostility of the island can add a little spice to prevent PvP from becoming too boring.
Lost Rift seems to try to mix PvP and PvE in a survival extraction 1st person game. So you have your island where you have to do the usual survival, base building etc, cool, and then you have expeditions that you can make with other players to get special loot with the added danger of other players wanting the same loot, the PvP part. It is a good idea that your base can't be raided, but you will be forced to make the expeditions if you want cool rewards no matter what, keep that in mind
