Borderlands 4 Delays Nintendo Switch 2 Release, Pre-Orders Will Be Canceled
Borderlands 4 Nintendo Switch 2 release has been delayed. Gearbox Software cites they need additional time for development.
Nintendo Switch 2 users will have to wait longer to play Borderlands 4. Initially scheduled to release on October 3rd, Gearbox Software announced that the game’s Switch version will not make it for this date as they need additional time for development.
Borderlands 4 Releases Official Story Trailer
In a recent post on the official Borderlands 4 X account, Gearbox Software announced that the game’s Switch 2 launch is delayed. They cited that the game needs “additional development and polish time.”
To ease the disappointment, they also shared their intention to align the Switch 2 launch with the introduction of cross-save functionality. A great plan which hopefully ends in proper implementation too. As of writing, no new release date has been confirmed.
Considering the performance fiasco it had when it was released for PC and console earlier this month, it seems like a good choice for the team. So now instead of focusing on a Switch release, they can hopefully spread their resources fixing what needs to be fixed.

Since preorders for the Switch 2 version have already gone live, Gearbox has confirmed that all existing orders will be canceled. Digital preorders can be manually canceled now, or will be automatically voided on September 26th. Those who preordered physical copies are advised to contact their retailer for further instructions.
