The familiar hum of an observation drone scanning the room. The sudden, deafening crack of a reinforced wall blowing wide open. Those tense, split-second decisions that define Rainbow Six Siege have officially made the jump to smaller screens.
After years of development and testing, Rainbow Six Mobile launched globally just a couple of days ago on iOS and Android. Ubisoft marked the February 23rd release with two massive trailers—a slick cinematic and a live-action drop to set the mood.
The Tactical Formula, Shrunk Down
This isn’t just a generic shooter with a familiar logo slapped on the loading screen. The core five-versus-five Attack versus Defense structure remains completely intact here. Matches are optimized for shorter sessions, but the strategy is as demanding as ever.
Attackers still rely on drones to gather intel before breaching destructible environments. Defenders are busy reinforcing walls, dropping traps, and anchoring the objective. It plays exactly how a tactical shooter should, complete with fully customizable touch controls. Plus, if swiping isn’t your thing, there’s full Bluetooth controller support right out of the gate.

Familiar Operators and Fresh Territory
Right at launch, the roster features over twenty Operators ready for deployment. Fan favorites like Ash, Mute, and Dokkaebi bring their signature gadgets to the firefight.
The map pool is equally stacked, pulling iconic locations straight from the main game. You can hold down angles in Bank, Clubhouse, Border, Oregon, and Villa. Ubisoft also threw in two mobile-exclusive maps, Restaurant and Summit, to keep veteran players on their toes.
Alongside standard Bomb and Team Deathmatch modes, there’s a faster-paced Bomb Rush mode for quick drops on the go.
Operation Sand Wraith and Cross-Progression Loot
The global launch also signals the start of the first official season, Operation Sand Wraith.
This desert-themed update introduces Deimos, a lethal tracker who excels at forcing intense one-on-one duels using his DeathMARK gadget. If you already play Siege on PC or console, there’s a good reason to link your Ubisoft Connect account. Logging into both games scores you a free Caveira skin over in Siege.
On the mobile side, players get an exclusive charm and multiple draws for the Weapon Arsenal packs. Just make sure to grab the free gift bundle from the Siege shop before March 2nd.
Breaching the Mobile Market
Adapting such a methodical, high-stakes shooter for phones is a massive undertaking. Rainbow Six Mobile manages to capture the tension of a final standoff without diluting the core mechanics. It delivers that distinct tactical rush, whether you’re coordinating with a full squad or squeezing in a quick match during a commute.
The breach is officially open, and the servers are waiting.
