E3 2023 CANCELED AS EVENT STRUGGLES TO STAY RELEVANT

Organizers Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and ReedPop have officially announced the cancelation of E3 2023.

E3 was set to return this June with its first physical event in four years following the COVID-19 pandemic, but that will no longer be the case as analysts suggest the event has “struggled to remain relevant” since it’s been away.

Only announced a few months ago, E3 2023 was already in turmoil as big publishers and developers like Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony would likely not attend and do their own individual showcases.

And in an email sent out to members, the E3 2023 organizers said the event “simply did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength, and impact of our industry.”

It’s a huge blow for many, as E3 has always been a fan-favorite for decades, and some of the best game reveals and moments have come from E3.

There is no news on whether E3 will return in 2024, but as mentioned, there will be many more game showcases from individual publishers and companies throughout the year.
