The Electronic Entertainment Expo is coming back as a physical and digital event in 2023, despite being canceled in 2022.
Speaking to The Washington Post, the CEO of organizer ESA said there’s a “really strong desire for people to convene – to be able to connect in person and see each other and talk about what makes games great.”
It’s been a few years since we’ve seen a physical version of E3 and a couple since we’ve seen a digital event.
In that time, other events such as Summer Game Fest have continued to thrive, with publishers and developers wanting to share their upcoming games with fans.
E3 does not only have to prove itself against strong competition but also prove itself to gamers after the E3 2021’s digital-only event placed restrictions on who could stream it and had a controversial “friend-finding” feature.
So, 2023 will be a big year for E3 as the show’s organizers will have to convince publishers to showcase their games and persuade viewers to come back.
If you’re looking to attend E3 2023, specific dates will be released later in the year, including confirmed exhibitors, hotels, and travel guides.
