A Tragic Tale of Books and Paper Mortis

The Grimm Reapress and the Drearytale Monster presents a poignant narrative anchored by a striking picture-book aesthetic. The story centers on Mono, a neglected young girl who lives in the attic of an opera house.

Mono discovers her beloved older sister contracted a magical disease called Paper Mortis. The virulent malady transforms infected humans into picture books, and eventually metamorphoses the victims into horrific paper monsters.

Desperate for a cure, Mono travels to an abandoned containment facility known as the Libratarium. Mono forges an uneasy alliance with a legendary monster named Mär, who harbors a deep hatred for humanity.

Players must enter different storybooks, solve environmental puzzles, and fight bosses to navigate the bizarre environments shaped by character memories and traumas. NIS America details the full premise in the official game overview.
