CD Projekt Red has confirmed they don’t plan introduce microtransactions to their single-player games, but they have not ruled them out completely.
CD Projekt Red have spoken out about their stance on microtransactions after the recent Dragon’s Dogma 2 was heavily criticized after Capcom flooded the single-player RPG with microtransactions upon its release.
If there’s one sure way to annoy the gaming community and unite it in a common cause its to mention microtransactions. In an interview on Stockwatch.pl, CDPR chief financial officer Piotr Nielubowicz calmed everyone by saying the company don’t plan to add microtransactions to single-player games.
Unfortunately, he did add that it could be an option for CD Projekt Red in future multiplayer games. Although he didn’t express it, he could be referring to the upcoming Witcher game codenamed Project Sirius, which is a AAA game and will feature multiplayer elements.
As for The Witcher 4, if it stays as a single-player game then its likely the only post-launch content will be in the form of expansion DLCs, and hopefully not microtransactions.
