The Descendant is a point-and-click story-rich adventure game developed by Gaming Corps AB, climate change and a nuclear apocalypse have devastated the planet wiping off the majority of humanity. Only a few thousand descendants of humanity were hand-picked to survive the apocalypse, cryogenically suspended in underground bunkers known as Arks. Centuries passed, the world has recovered from the nuclear holocaust and all arks have reopened except for one Ark-01.
Overall, even though the controls sometimes made me swear in frustration and the hackneyed narration made me laugh out loud, I am still, on the whole, pleased to have played The Descendants. It is worth trying out in a sale, and if you can cope with the shortcomings in design, the story is an entertaining five-episode arc.
Slightly above average or simply inoffensive. Fans of the genre should enjoy them a bit, but a fair few will be left unfulfilled.
In total, I have played just over four hours and have completed all five episodes, so it’s not a massive game that will take you a full day or week to complete, but will offer you a great story and interesting puzzles in a genre that could use more of them.
