Syberia 2 Reviews

Syberia 2 is a curious animal, as it improves on, but is also inferior to the original in a few ways. It is shorter (about seven hours compared to the original’s ten), and players new to the series will have the classic first instalment reduced to a short prologue, so ideally you should experience that in full first.

The core story may take a different slant to the previous one, and some puzzles may not live up to the high bar set in the first outing, but this is still a highly enjoyable journey throughout, with everything perfectly adapted for the Nintendo Switch setup, looking great in docked mode, but working even better when played in portable form using the touch screen.

Syberia 2 takes Syberia’s template and continues Kate Walker’s adventure. The puzzles swing from overly simplistic to ridiculously cryptic, with very little to give a sense of purpose. It’s also pricey, but if you’re invested in the story and absolutely must have it on the Switch then this is the right place.
